Ongoing consolidation among U.S. hospitals and health care providers, along with dramatic changes in health care delivery due to the Affordable Care Act, is creating new risks and new risk management challenges for hospital systems and other health care providers. Mergers and acquisitions among providers is creating new scale, new complexity and new exposures. The impact of the reforms will also be felt by providers in their role as employers offering benefit programs that also will be impacted by changes in the health care system. This webinar will explore a range of issues associated with how health care providers should prepare for the Affordable Care Act, including such issues as:

Dan Nash is healthcare practice leader for Zurich, based in Chicago. In this strategic business leadership role, he is focused on growing Zurich’s healthcare business across all market segments. He also is responsible for directly engaging brokers and customers, positioning Zurich as a leader within the industry, and defining the healthcare practice strategy and targets as well as monitoring performance. Dan joined Zurich in 2006 as a regional vice president for Specialty Products. Previously, he served 21 years as a healthcare industry leader with a number of organizations in Chicago, including global brokers Marsh and Willis, the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) and the Illinois State Medical Inter-Insurance Exchange (ISMIE). He also has extensive affiliations with some of the leading healthcare industry associations, including the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society, American Society of Healthcare Risk Management, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Brad leads Willis’s health care team in Chicago. He joined Willis after working with Marsh and Johnson & Higgins for 25 years, specializing in consulting and brokerage services for health care providers. Prior to his years as a broker, Brad was a casualty underwriter for 5 years with Aetna Life & Casualty, specializing in large, complex clients. For the past five years, Brad has worked as the London health care team leader where he acted as liaison/placing broker for Willis’s U.S.-based health care provider clients accessing the Lloyd’s and European markets. Brad has focused on designing programs and placing insurance for large, urban medical centers and multi-state integrated delivery systems. He also has extensive experience with alternative risk financing mechanisms such as captive insurance companies and risk retention groups. Brad currently acts as Client Advocate for several large health care providers, most of whom use captive insurers to solve risk and insurance-related problems. Brad graduated with honors from Amherst College, Amherst, Mass., and earned the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter designation in 1986.
